Why a CC Licence?
I want you to see the moment as I did and enjoy the final photo. Why should it belong only to me? That’s why I use a Creative Commons licence. The CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence makes it clear what you can and cannot do with my photos. It gives non-commercial users more freedom than standard copyright law, while I still keep my rights as the creator.
You are free to
- Share — copy and pass on my photos in any format or platform.
- Attribution — give appropriate credit, provide a link to the licence, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable way, but not in a manner that suggests I endorse you or your use.
- NonCommercial — you may not use the material for commercial purposes.
- NoDerivatives — if you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified version.
- No additional restrictions — you may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the licence permits.
Questions?
Not sure what this all means? Want to use my photos for something commercial?
Drop me a line and I’ll clear it up — happy to chat.
Did I snap a photo of you on the street?
Did I hand you my card afterwards?
Thanks again for letting me take the shot! You can download the photo here and use it for private purposes, as long as you stick to the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence.
Want it without the watermark? Just give me a shout and I’ll send you the full-res version.
